Thank you to all attending the this year’s Overlook HOA meeting on April 21st 2024.
We reviewed the 2023 spending vs budget, and reviewed our proposed 2024 budget, and elected new board members. This meeting had a good turnout, of 17 households, and 24 people. (Out of 90 households). Our existing HOA reserves are approximately $22,000 for capital projects and unforeseen expenses. While we anticipate a capital outlay for landscaping; the board, and residents present at the meeting, felt that the existing $165 annual dues level should be maintained for 2024.
We will be sending out a mailing with the invoice for the annual dues, which are due by May 31st. As with least year, payment can be via check or via the no-fee Zelle payment system that most banks participate in. Zelle payments can be sent to treasurer@westervilleoverlook.com. Please include your name and address in the notes on the payment. Payments can also mailed to

Our two board members with expiring terms, Richard Smith and Audrey Crone, both expressed that they were happy to have others replace them on the board. Thank you to Audrey and Richard for taking another turn on the board. (They were both board members in the past) And thank you to two residents, John Midle, and Kari Lively, for volunteering to join the board. John and Kari were elected unanimously for a two year term by those present. Frank, Cirous, and Andy have one year remaining on their current terms. This gives us a board membership of:
- Cirous Hagnazari
- Frank Deutchki
- Andy Welter
- John MIdle
- Kari Lively
Contact information for the board is located on our website at: http://westervilleoverlook.com/hoa-board-contact-informaton/
The board will meet and decide internally who will take the roles of President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
Jennifer Murnane and Daniele Whitehead discussed the social committee’s plans for the coming year. We can look forward to a much expanded food truck schedule this summer. Check the Facebook Westerville Overlook group for information about the food truck schedule. The annual community garage sale is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of June 7-8. Other social activities are also in the works. Because of the success of the social committee’s work last year, we increased the social committee budget from $500 to $1000.
A major topic of discussion was landscaping at the front entrance. The board discussed it’s plans for the replacement of one of the trees for the front entrance (completed this week), a revision to the mulch for the front beds to better suppress weeds, and an increased frequency of landscaping visits in spring/early summer (twice a month instead of once a month)
Consensus was that in addition to this, that the HOA should spend some of our accumulated reserves on a more major revision of the front entrance landscaping. Kari will take the lead on engaging landscape specialists to come out with a plan for updating the front. We have budgeted up to $1000 for design consultation, with a goal of having multiple options for review. Once we have options for review, we will schedule a follow on HOA meeting where the neighborhood can vote on plans and authorize the necessary spending for the work.
That meeting will be advertised via Facebook, and the signboards at the Hanawalt entrance to the neighborhood.
