The Overlook Homeowners Association (“HOA”) held it’s annual meeting on April 22, 2023 at the Westerville Public Library, with 16 attendees, representing 12 of the 91 homes in the association. Expiring board members Frank Deutchki, Cirous Haghnazari, and Andy Welter were re-elected for new 2 year terms of office. Board members Audrey Crone, and Richard Smith who were elected last year will continue for one more year of their current 2 year terms.
The HOA voted to keep the HOA dues at $165 for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. Dues may be paid via Zelle bank transfer to treasurer@westervilleoverlook.com or by check mailed to Frank Deutchki – Treasurer, 365 Farmeadow Dr. Westerville OH 43082. All payments are due by May 27, 2023. Most local banks participate in the no-fee Zelle transfer network. Check your banking app or bank’s website for instructions for using that payment method.
There were 2 significant discussions at the meeting – landscaping at the front entrance and social activities. While there were 2 capital improvement projects at the front entrance, we will be working with the current landscaping vendor to improve the front entrance presentation this year. Danielle Whitehead, who has been leading the Social Events group for the Overlook, outlined a few neighborhood events, based on previous years’ successes:
- Garage Sale (tentatively scheduled for June 16 & 17)
- School Year-end Ice Cream Social in May/June
- Kona Ice Visit
- National Night Out in August
- Chili & Chat w/Outdoor Movie(?) in October
- Cookie Exchange in December
There was also discussion about possible social events specifically for adults. We are open to other ideas and would love to have a volunteer take the lead on one of these events or their own idea. If interested in heading up an event, being a volunteer who works on a committee for a specific event or offering other social event ideas, please email Danielle Whitehead at whitehed@wcsoh.org, or use the new social@westervilleoverlook.com alias. With a little bit of help from many volunteers, we can offer several fun community events for our neighborhood!
With the exception of the sandwich board notifications at the front entrance, it is difficult to communicate with all of our neighbors. We encourage all homeowners to join “The Overlook Subdivision: Westerville Ohio” group on Facebook. We also plan to use our website (westervilleoverlook.com) more actively for communications and hope you will add it to your “favorites” and check out the site regularly. We are working to add a “subscription” option where one can request email notifications of changes to the site.
